Resistance Calculator

Need to know the resistance of a component or wire? Simply input the values from DYVO and see the calculated resistance.

Option 1

When you need the resistance from a single channel.

Option 2

When you use both channels across a wire or component.

Not sure which option to use?

    1. You don't have easy access to both ends of a wire/circuit

    2. You want to test a complete circuit with the component still connected

    3. You want to test the resistance of a component that is case grounded and only has 1 positive wire to it

    1. You have easy access to both ends of a wire/circuit

    2. You want to use DYVO like a traditional meter in Ohms

    3. You want to test the wire/circuit for resistance, short to power, and short to ground at the same time

    4. You are testing the resistance of a component that has 2 wires

Option 1 Directions

  • When you want to find the resistance of the positive circuit or ground circuit to a component.

    1. Unplug component and any other components on that same circuit

    2. Ensure "LOAD" is displayed on DYVO

    3. Connect DYVO CH+ to test + circuits, or CH- to test - circuits. Connections should be made in place of component

    4. Activate circuit (turn it on)

    5. Input Battery value and Channel value from DYVO into calculator

  • Use this method to find the resistance of a complete circuit, including the component.

    1. Keep the component plugged in, but unplug any other component in that circuit, or turn them off

    2. Remove the fuse, or other easily accessible test location

    3. Ensure "LOAD" is displayed on DYVO

    4. Connect DYVO CH- where fuse was

    5. Input Battery value and CH- value from DYVO into calculator

  • Use this method for components that are single wire. The single wire supplies power, and the component is case grounded. Examples: horn, AC compressor, starter motor.

    1. Unplug positive wire to component, but leave component installed for case ground connection

    2. Ensure "LOAD" is displayed on DYVO

    3. Connect DYVO CH- to terminal of component

    4. Input Battery value and CH- value from DYVO into calculator

Option 2 Directions

  • When you want to find the resistance of a wire/circuit from end to end.

    1. Disconnect both ends of the wire/circuit

    2. Ensure "LOAD" is displayed on DYVO

    3. Ensure "V" is displayed on DYVO. Not "V LOSS"

    4. Connect DYVO CH+ to one end, and CH- to the other end

    5. Input Channel values from DYVO into calculator

  • Use this method to find the resistance of a component with 2 wires.

    1. Unplug the component

    2. Ensure "LOAD" is displayed on DYVO

    3. Ensure "V" is displayed on DYVO. Not "V LOSS"

    4. Connect DYVO CH+ to one terminal of component, and CH- to the other terminal of the component

    5. Input Channel values from DYVO into calculator
